We are transformed, made new, and made right with God

The wicked flee when no one is pursuing,
But the righteous are bold as a lion.
(Proverbs 28:1)

Have you ever seen someone who seemed completely fearless? There is something beautiful about someone who lives with boldness. There is a freedom to how they live that is unencumbered by the overwhelming anxiety that comes so easily for many of us. Thankfully, we don’t have to muster up this kind of boldness on our own. When we remember the work of God in us and the magnitude of His power, it changes how we live. We are transformed, made new, and made right with God. Before Christ, we had everything to be afraid of—our nature to sin haunted us, the fear of the unknown overwhelmed us, and the fear of death overcame us. But now in Christ, you have been made new. You are set free from the fears that once held you down and had you constantly looking over your shoulder.

Galatians 5:1 says, “It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.” The temptation to live in fear still lingers. We can get scared to share our faith or even make a new friend, but this fear no longer defines you. There is greater hope, greater freedom, and greater boldness through the work of Christ in you! The next time you feel afraid, anxious, or overwhelmed, remind yourself of this identity in Christ that is now yours as a follower of Jesus. He is preparing you, strengthening you, and with you through everything He calls you to. The gift of His power and peace are unlike anything else. When fear feels too real, remind yourself of your freedom in Christ and His changing work in you.

When have you been afraid of something God was calling you to?

How does freedom in Christ change the way you live?

Pray and ask God to remind you of the strength and freedom you have from Him, even when you feel overwhelmed with fear.
