"I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself for me." Galatians 2:20(NKJV)
When we come to Christ, we receive the Life of God into our spirit. Now as believers, we have two lives; The Human life and The Divine Life. The Normal Christian life requires that we live out the Divine Life. (Col. 3:4) But how can we live out the Divine Life when by default we live our natural, selfish and fleshly life? The only way is through the Cross and by the Spirit Who enables us to put to death the sinful nature and desires so that the Life of God will easily be expressed through us. It is a Life that is dead to sin and to the world but is resurrected in Christ. Our Lord Jesus said that we must deny ourselves, take up our cross and follow Him (Matt. 10:38) for if we don't, we are not worthy of Him. He also said that we must die in order to bear fruit in the Kingdom (Jn. 12:24).
Crucifixion was not merely an event that took place at the End of Jesus' Life. Even though He had a Perfect Humanity untouched by sin, He lived a Crucified Life. (Ps. 40:5-7) He constantly denied Himself and lived solely for the Glory of the Father. Communion (praying) and spending time on God's Word daily will enable you to live the Crucified Life because the more time you spend with God, the more your sinful nature diminishes and God's Nature will manifest more in you. Another major key to manifesting the Crucified Life is to reckon (Greek "logizomai" meaning "to take an inventory of, to estimate and to acknowledge") that you are dead to sin (Rom. 6:11). This you can do daily by confessing it with your mouth as Paul confessed "I die daily" (1 Cor. 15:31).
Prayer:
Thank You Father for giving us Your Nature. Please help us to daily reckon ourselves dead to the sinful nature and to manifest the Crucified Life in Jesus' Mighty Name. Amen.
